Jesus Is our Answer
Simply put: Jesus is better. He is our hope in suffering, our peace in chaos, our joy in every season. Where the world promises and fails, Jesus fulfills and sustains. He is the one who never leaves, never changes, and never stops loving. In Him, we find a life that is deeper, fuller, and eternally secure.
What Does Jesus Say About…
We desire to grow as a Christ-centered, Bible-guided community of disciples, walking in His footsteps in everything we do and growing each day to reflect His character more fully. Our mission is to spread the kingdom of heaven on earth and share the healing that can only be found in Jesus with those around us.
Jesus made it clear that Scripture is extremely important. He called it the very word of God (Mark 7:8-13). He did not criticize Scripture; He did not question its trustworthiness (Matthew 5:17-19) That includes those Old Testament miracle stories! (Matthew 12:38-42; 19:3-9; Luke 17:26-33). The Scriptures all point to Jesus and teach us to put our trust in Him (Galatians 3:24; Romans 15:4; John 5:39-47; Matthew 7:24-27; 28:18-20).
At Twin City, we simply want to read/use the Bible the way Jesus read/used it.
Jesus claimed to be the Christ foretold of by the Old Testament (Luke 24:44; John 5:39-47). He claimed to be the very Son of God (John 8:58; 10:29-33), sent by God to be the exclusive Savior of the world and Giver of eternal life to all who receive Him (John 3:16;6:35; 7:29; 8:12; 10:11; 14:6). Jesus’ claims are validated by the evidence surrounding His death, burial, and resurrection (Mark 10:33-34; Romans 1:4). He has said He will one day return to judge the world (Matthew 7:21-23; 25:31-46; John 5:19-32).
At Twin City, we simply want to see Jesus for who He really is… the Lord Christ, Savior and Redeemer of mankind, King and High Priest in God’s kingdom, and Judge of all the world. We want to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ and reflect Him each day.
Jesus taught that forgiveness can only come through Him and is a priceless gift. To not be forgiven of one’s sins means eternal death (John 8:24). Jesus came so that people could have new, abundant life (John 10:10). But to receive that forgiveness and have that newness of life, we must receive the gospel message of grace and enter into the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ (Acts 2:38, 41; Romans 10:8-10; 6:3-7; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14). Only a true faith in Christ will produce such a response (Ephesians 2:8). Salvation is only received on the Lord’s terms (John 14:6).
At Twin City, we humbly seek to uphold what Jesus and His apostles taught about how to have forgiveness and receive salvation.
Water baptism, through full immersion, is a powerful work of God (Colossians 2:12), in which He washes away our sins and raises us to a new life in Christ (Acts 22:16). It is a moment of surrender, where we die to our old ways of sin and commit ourselves to live for God (Romans 6:3–4). In baptism, we call on God to extend His grace, and it is a vital part of accepting the gift of His salvation (1 Peter 3:21).
The church is very precious to Jesus. He is its Builder and Foundation (Matthew 16:18; 1 Corinthians 3:11). It consists of those who have responded in faith to the gospel message and have entered into a salvation relationship (Acts 3:36-47; Hebrews 12:22-23). It is so personally connected to the Lord that it is described as His body (1Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:11-12; Colossians 1:18), as His bride (Ephesians 5:22-23), as God’s family or household (Ephesians 2:19; 1 Timothy 3:15), and as the temple and priesthood of God (2 Corinthians 6:16; Ephesians 2:21-22; 1 Peter 2:4-5).
At Twin City, we want to be all that God envisions for us through Christ our Lord. We understand that we are imperfect people saved by a perfect Savior, and so we are trying together to yield to His will each day and allow Him to work in our lives.
Jesus taught that God desires our worship, but not just any worship. He desires the true worship that is offered in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). Worship is about honoring what God wants… treating Him as the holy God He is… and also about providing opportunity for believers to encourage each other toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24-25). We can conclude from the statements and examples in the New Testament how Jesus would have His followers to worship together… to sing joyfully (Ephesians 5:19), pray earnestly (1 Thessalonians 5:17), remember His death by taking the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-26), listening to God’s word (2 Timothy 4:2), and giving freely with open hearts (2 Corinthians 9:7).
At Twin City, we are simply trying to worship the way early followers of Jesus did. We know He was pleased with them, and that’s what we want, too.
